How to Book a Yacht Charter in Dubai & Abu Dhabi: A Practical Guide

Learn how to book a yacht charter in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Get clear steps, price ranges, rules, and what to expect from enquiry to departure.

Booking a private yacht charter in Dubai or Abu Dhabi is simpler than you might think. You enquire, confirm a date and boat, pay a deposit, and cast off. The details matter, and this guide walks through each step so you know exactly what to expect.

The Enquiry Process

The first step is always an enquiry. You'll tell us:

  • Your preferred date and time (sunset slots and weekends book first in peak season, November to April).
  • Group size (most private charters cap at ~12 guests plus crew; larger parties require certified inspected vessels).
  • Your budget range and desired yacht type (motor yacht, catamaran, sailing yacht, or superyacht).
  • Departure point: Dubai Harbour, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Creek, Festival City Marina, or Business Bay. In Abu Dhabi: Yas Marina, Emirates Palace Marina, Marsa Al Bateen, Eastern Mangroves, or Al Bandar.

We'll respond with available options within 24 hours. No hard sell — just the facts: boat length in feet and metres, guest capacity, amenities, and an indicative price.

Indicative Pricing

Prices vary by vessel class, season, and duration. Here are typical hourly and daily ranges (all in AED, plus 5% VAT). Exact quotes are confirmed at enquiry.

  • Day boats (31–35 ft): ~AED 400–700 per hour
  • Motor yachts (40–70 ft): ~AED 3,000–5,000 per hour
  • Superyachts (100 ft+): from ~USD 3,000 per day plus 5% VAT and ~30–35% APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance for fuel, food, crew gratuity)
  • Catamarans (55 ft+): similar to motor yachts in its class
  • Zaya Nurai day-trips from Abu Dhabi: from ~AED 20,600 plus VAT
  • Abu Dhabi F1 weekend superyachts: six figures up to ~AED 1.7M

All charters are captained and crewed. BYOB is often allowed subject to the operator's house rules — confirm at booking.

How to Confirm a Booking

Once you've chosen a yacht:

  1. We'll send a detailed proposal with the vessel, date, duration, itinerary, and total cost.
  2. You pay a deposit (typically 50%) to secure the slot. Balance is due 7–14 days before departure.
  3. You'll receive a charter contract and a pre-departure checklist (what to bring, boarding location, parking info).
  4. On the day, arrive 15 minutes early at the marina. The crew greets you, gives a safety briefing, and you're off.

Peak season (November–April) means popular yachts book weeks ahead. Last-minute availability is possible in shoulder months (October and May) or for morning slots (calmest sea conditions).

Cancellation & Refunds

Cancellation policies vary by operator but generally:

  • 14+ days before: full refund minus a small admin fee.
  • 7–13 days: 50% refund.
  • Less than 7 days: no refund, but some operators allow rescheduling if weather forces cancellation.

Weather cancellations are decided by the captain and are fully refundable. Rough seas are rare October–April but possible in summer.

Sights & Routes

Your charter typically includes a suggested route. Common options:

  • Dubai: Ain Dubai, Bluewaters, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis, Burj Al Arab. A golden-hour cruise along the Marina is a classic.
  • Abu Dhabi: Corniche, Emirates Palace, Qasr Al Watan, Lulu Island, Yas Marina Circuit, Saadiyat Island, or a mangrove eco-cruise from Eastern Mangroves.

You can request a custom itinerary. Longer charters (4+ hours) can stop for swimming or a beach visit.

Events & Peak Dates

Certain dates require booking far in advance:

  • UAE National Day (December 2)
  • New Year's Eve fireworks (best views from the water)
  • Dubai Boat Show (February/March)
  • Abu Dhabi Boat Show (late November)
  • Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix (early December)

For these events, enquire at least 2–3 months ahead. Prices can be higher due to demand.
