Seasickness can ruin a great day out. If you or your guests are prone to motion sickness, here is how to mitigate the risk.
1. Choose the Right Boat
Catamarans are the most stable boats on the water. Because they have two hulls, they don't roll side-to-side like a monohull yacht. If stability is your top priority, book a catamaran.
2. Stay Above Deck
The worst place to be if you feel sick is inside the cabin or down below in a bedroom. Stay outside in the fresh air and keep your eyes fixed on the horizon.
3. Medication and Remedies
Take motion sickness pills (like Dramamine) before you board. Once you feel sick, pills rarely help. Ginger sweets and acupressure wristbands are also popular natural alternatives.
4. Tell the Captain
If the sea is choppy, tell the captain. They can alter the route to stay in sheltered waters (like the Marina canal, the Palm inner circle, or the Abu Dhabi mangroves) rather than heading into the open Gulf.
